Folks from across the country worked diligently today throughout Lakeshore. Most of our ongoing project sites teamed with activity. Crews dug holes for the next new house, begun framing, hung insulation, finished sheet rock, installed siding, demolished a flooded home, cut down trees, cleared property, and tackled at least a couple dozen other tasks.

The first wave of ARBCA volunteers rolled in last night as we look forward to another big week of mercy ministry. along with all the other donations, they graced me with two full shelves of great books through Cumberland Valley Bible & Books and Banner of Truth Trust. As I unpacked the boxes, my administrative assistant, Joell looked over at me and laughed, “Brother Don - you are beaming. You are like a kid in a candy shop, arn’t you?” Yep.
I’m a bona fide bibliophile. They pulled several titles from my Amazon wishlist and surprised me with the rest. I told JoEll, I need a sabbatical now, so I can read them all - well, I doubt I’ll take that any time soon, but I do look forward to diving into the puritan paperback series as part of Timmy Brister’s 2008 Puritan Challenge.

We plan to bring in the new year with a BANG - the bang of hammers and nail guns.
Yesterday we poured the concrete and set the piers for a new house we plan to begin framing next week.
Over the weekend our friends from Michigan framed up a new house in less than three working days. They rolled in Friday afternoon and by the time I made it over to the site a couple hours later, they had already erected three of the exterior walls. They worked so fast, I didn’t even make it over to the site to snap pictures of the trusses going up.

The teams working with us in December 2007 included folks from 10 states and 1 foreign country.
We can’t thank these folks enough for their hard work, dedication, and long term commitment to the ongoing rebuilding efforts.
