Mrs. Bea made it out of surgery well. They performed a triple bypass on her. According to the doctor, everything went smoothly and according to plan. She is in recovery and resting. Mrs. Bea has asked us to pray for a speedy recovery. She looks to get back on her feet soon and get busy organizing the Christmas gift donations that have already begun trickling in.

Many of you know Mrs. Bea, one of our church members who works in our food distribution center. Last Thursday Mrs. Bea went to the doctor to check out some tightness in her chest. They kept her overnight for tests and plan to do bypass surgery in the next couple of days (probably Friday). Please remember her and her family in your prayers.

God has richly blessed us with literally thousands of new friends over the last couple of years. Many of you have become part of our family, especially those who stay for extended periods of time. Kristy, one of our friends from Immanuel Baptist Church in Louisville KY, has become like a little sister to me. She has served with us in Lakeshore for the past five months. Her passion for the ministry, heart of mercy, her contagious smile, and her tireless work ethic has blessed us beyond words. From working in the office, to organizing the warehouse, to working with the teams, to running errands, to tiling Mrs. Gillum’s bathroom this week, to introducing everyone to the infamous “mixed frosties;” she exemplifies her gift of encouragement. Her tour of duty ends today. Her scheduled flight back to Louisville KY lifts off any minute. Kristy, we will miss you and we look forward to your return, or whatever God has in store for you. May God continue to bless you and to richly bless others through you.
btw, check out Kristy’s blog “By His Grace.”

Last week our friend, Kyle Jeffreys, assembled a crew from north Alabama, representing five churches. Among other things, the team brought down and hooked up 5 air conditioners in houses that we have built. Lord willing these homes will pass rough electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and framing inspections this week and we will begin installing insulation and hanging sheet rock soon.

We had a great month of October with a lot of volunteers visiting Lakeshore and an incredible amount of work accomplished. The following teams were here this past month:
